Therapist | LCSW

Everyone gets overwhelmed at times. Sometimes people may lose their confidence or get “stuck”. Other times a person may feel like they are “failing at life” or struggling with “adulting”. A person may struggle with motivation, focus, or energy. Often people need a 3rd party non-biased/non-judging person to help them make a tough decision or figure out the next steps, or maybe even first steps. Whatever the issue is, I meet the person where they are collaborate with them, and help them figure things out. I use a wide variety of techniques that have been proven to be effective.

I teach skills, and empower individuals, to create goals, and problem-solve. I help individuals identify patterns in behavior and thought processes that are self-destructive and help individuals change them to more productive or healthier. I help individuals learn to identify and regulate emotions. Most importantly I am collaborative, empowering, and encouraging. I don’t give advice or solve problems. I help individuals set goals and solve their problems. I teach skills that can be reused and tweaked with different challenges. I am more of a sounding board, navigator, or guide that helps individuals create an emotional/behavioral toolbox, and fill that toolbox with tools to help with everyday life challenges.

My Professional Background

I have over a decade of experience working with individuals in domestic violence, sexual assault, and victims of crime. I have worked with individuals who have challenges with depression and anxiety, as well as individuals with more chronic mental illness as well as chronic medical illness. I have worked with individuals and their families at the end of life and in a medical setting. I have worked with individuals in a variety of settings, inpatient, outpatient, and residential. I have experience with individuals from ages 11 and up.
