Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of therapy/coaching does your platform provide access to?

Therapists on our platform provide individual, couples, and family therapy or coaching. We periodically hold group workshops and more detail will be posted on the site in advance for event registration. In terms of therapy approaches, our providers offer a wide range of therapy techniques and styles based on the diverse training of each of our team members. We understand therapy is not a “one-size-fits-all” experience and we strive to make sure we meet our clients where they are at.

Do providers on your platform offer online / virtual sessions?

Yes! Connecting you with online therapy and coaching is by far our most popular service. We understand people have busy schedules and making time for in-person session is not always convenient, so our providers offer online services to clients. We use a HIPAA-compliant virtual platform and will provide you with instructions on how to access your sessions and address any troubleshooting needs.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes!  We are in-network for several insurance providers including Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, United Healthcare, Oscar, Oxford and a few others.  We are also happy to help you get set up to use your out-of-network benefits. We recommend looking into your benefits for outpatient mental health services beforehand to make sure you know what is covered by insurance or reimbursable.

How much do sessions cost?

This depends on if you’re using insurance or paying out of pocket.  If using insurance, then the cost would be determined by your insurance plan and benefits.  The fee for sessions will be discussed during the initial consultation once we know more about your insurance or if you plan to pay out of pocket. Many people mistakenly think they can receive “free” therapy services using their insurance. However, this is frequently not the case because almost all insurance plans have a deductible that will need to be paid before insurance will provide coverage.

What are the benefits of not using insurance?

Most of our clients do not use their insurance. When paying out-of-pocket the therapist’s notes from your therapy sessions are kept confidential. If you use your insurance, the therapist’s notes from sessions must be submitted to insurance, and insurance will require your therapist to diagnose you with a mental health disorder which stays in your medical record forever. Insurance will also often try to find ways to save themselves costs by limiting the number of sessions they’ll cover, assign you a specific therapist rather than giving you the freedom to choose your own therapist, or push you toward group therapy instead of individual therapy. Paying privately and not using insurance gives you more control over your therapeutic journey and full confidentiality.

What is your cancellation policy?

We are more than happy to reschedule or cancel any sessions at least 24 hours before the scheduled appointment time. Any cancellations within the 24-hour window will result in a fee.

Is therapy confidential?

Absolutely — confidentiality of all client information is protected by state and federal laws. There are some limits to confidentiality in extreme cases when safety of the client or others is compromised. We can provide you with the details of these exceptions during your initial consultation or in an initial therapy session.  If you use insurance, the insurance company will require access to your confidential records.

How long are therapy and coaching sessions?

Your sessions will start with an initial consultation to understand your goals. This initial consultation takes approximately 15-30 minutes and is always free of charge. All following sessions are 50-55 minutes long.
