Therapist | LCSW

We can all use some support at some point in our lives. Whether we are going through a life transition, experiencing the loss of something meaningful to us or simply feeling stagnant in life, just to name a few.  Sometimes the hardest part is recognizing we need support or realizing that it is okay not to do it alone.  If you are reading this, you are likely contemplating getting that support or may be ready to start that journey! Either way it is a first step. That is great! My goal as a therapist is to assist the person I am working with to navigate emotions or behaviors that they may want to better understand or change.   My approach is strength based. I like to look at the whole person, their environment, and systems.  I believe it’s pivotal to explore all these areas to better understand the distress they are experiencing. I strongly believe that all individuals are much more than the symptoms they are experiencing. Given that every client is different, I like to implement a variety of modalities based on the client’s needs.  My number one priority is to ensure that the client feels safe and ultimately empowered.

What I enjoy most about being in this field is bearing witness to a client’s journey of self-discovery. I am humbled and honored to support them by exploring tools that could best empower them.

My Professional Background

I have worked predominantly with the BIPOC population. I have served this population for the last four years in a community mental health setting. I have worked with individuals whose age ranges from 20 to 95 years old.

Education, Training, and Certifications

  • Bachelors in Social Work, Marygrove College, Detroit MI
  • Masters in Social Work, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor MI
  • Certificate in Gerontology and Certificate in Child Welfare

Fun Facts

I absolutely love learning about plants and their medicinal gifts. You can find me on a hike taking pictures of plants so that I can look them up later. I believe plants are our allies and also our ancestors. I also enjoy getting creative and upcycling things. My mind is always thinking of the next creative endeavor! Currently it has been hand building pottery.
