What brought Reshma to the mental health field? She has always been interested in cognition and emotions and wanted to understand the complexity of people’s mind, their life experiences, and the knowledge and wisdom they have accumulated throughout their developmental lifespan. Reshma is interested in working with families, children and adults who present with anxiety, panic attacks, life stressors, loneliness, struggles with adjustment, trauma/PTSD, interpersonal relationship problems, difficulty with emotional regulation, behavioral challenges, grief and loss, as well as career and decision-making. She also has an extensive background in preventative and crisis work, and believes in an individualized approach to treatment. She integrates cognitive behavioral therapy, person-centered and strength based techniques, family system interventions, as well as mindfulness-based, self-care and compassion modalities. Reshma’s therapeutic style involves a supportive, collaborative and holistic approach to help her clients strengthen their emotional, psychological, physical and spiritual wellbeing. She strive as a therapist to help her clients to improve interpersonal skills, build confidence and empowerment to enhance the quality of their lives.
My Professional Background
Reshma is a New York State Licensed Mental Health Counselor with a clinical background, working with women and children between the ages of 5-18, young, middle and older adults along with the geriatric population. She has facilitated group counseling on a variety of topics that include empowering school age girls and women from diverse cultures. Reshma is currently leading a mindfulness and yoga practice once a week in the community. She also facilitated stress reduction groups both inpatient and outpatient at a psychiatric center. Reshma has conducted a women’s group at a opioid outpatient clinic and currently providing trauma-focus counseling to families of domestic violence.
