I use an “eclectic approach,” which means that I draw from several treatment modalities based on the unique needs of each client. I use a Person Centered approach, incorporating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing techniques. I value humor, authenticity, and empathy as key components of the therapeutic process. I believe the therapeutic relationship plays a crucial role in fostering change and serves as a corrective experience from previous negative interactive patterns.
While I have specialized experience in the treatment of eating disorders and addiction, I also treat a wide variety of mental health problems, including depression, anxiety, trauma and PTSD, self-harm and suicidal ideation, and social phobia. I offer brief-treatment therapy for adjustment disorders and solution-focused therapy for helping you to cope with life transitions. Everyone’s needs are different and I will work with you to address any problems getting in your way of finding a peaceful existence.
Clients have described me as warm, authentic, non-judgmental and down to earth!
My Professional Background
I received my B.S. in Public and Community Health from Ithaca College where I focused on studying family systems and holistic perspectives on health and healing. I spent 3 years studying the art of Clinical Social Work at Fordham University in Manhattan. During my studies I completed two internships, where I worked with diverse populations throughout New York City treating a wide-variety of mental health issues in outpatient treatment settings. Once I obtained my Master’s degree, I worked at an outpatient/intensive-outpatient clinic treating substance use disorders on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. At this treatment center I not only worked with individuals struggling with substance use themselves, but also with family members and significant others of those struggling with addiction issues.
Most recently I worked as a primary therapist in an adult residential treatment center for eating disorders treating individuals with severe eating disorders and co-occurring illnesses. I am an LCSW in the State of New York and am accepting clients at this time.
