Therapist | LPC

My view on therapy is building a relationship and focusing on client strengths to set and attain goals. Therapy is driven by the client, and uses the therapist as a mirror and coach. I encourage clients to take responsibility for choices, forgive themselves and others, and move forward. This helps clients get out of being stuck, frustrated and helpless. That is where having a coach important. To empower, encourage, build up, and remind the client of the goals; to push ahead. Gaining insight is also important and sometimes I will be a mirror so the client can see patterns, connect dots and set boundaries etc.

My Professional Background

I’ve gained experience working with individuals needing help getting out of maladaptive patterns of behavior. I have worked with clients who struggle with addiction, poor boundaries, communication, and coping skills. Have marital and relationship issues, Womens issues, personality disorders, mood disorders and low self esteem. I have learned that most people struggle with what is called “co-morbidities” meaning a combination of issues that overlap and effect each other. I don’t focus so much on diagnosis, but am focused more on strengths. This allows me to be a more effective therapist and coach.
