Get to Know Julie W

Therapist | LCSW

I am a licensed clinical social worker in New York with over 15 years of clinical experience. My passion is being a mental health practitioner where I am gratefully given the opportunity to encounter all walks of life and support their experiences called life. I love to learn and consider myself a constant student of anyone that comes into my existence. I find myself as a human first and therapist second when I “step into” my work as a psychotherapist. Courage resides in the vulnerability of ones’ actions, and this is the real work of life. I am fully equipped with an extensive knowledge base of theories and evidence- based practices including but not limited to cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy, trauma informed therapy, client centered therapy which inherently possess strength- based characteristics.

I started my mental health career in community mental health where I created a strong diagnostic assessment paradigm. Pain can manifest in any and many forms. I am willing to sit with you and encourage you to understand that you possess the solution to your discomfort. Through my years of practice, I have a multitude of suggestions to share that have worked for others. I enjoy facilitating individual, couple, family, and group therapy.

I believe that we all try our best at any given time, even if it is not “one’s best.” Let’s work on it together and I know you will get different results.

My Professional Background

I started in my undergraduate internship at an adolescent day treatment center. Post undergraduate, I worked as a residential counselor in various group homes within Northeastern Family Insititute. My graduate internship was with an agency who provided foster care, clinical, and community support services in the metro Denver area. I worked at a community mental health center in Adams County, CO where I retained my clinical hours toward my LCSW. I retained by Colorado LCSW in 2005. I moved to Maine in 2005 and retained my LCSW there too. I worked as a Clinical Supervisor at Richardson Hollow where I was a part of a MST driven in home therapy program as well as provided the clinical oversight for the children’s case management program. I moved back to Colorado where I became a Clinical Supervisor at Laradon Hall (Denver school for autistic children). I became a mother in 2011 and didn’t work. My daughter and I moved back to New York in 2015 and I retained the LMSW. I became employed in 2017 being a mobile crisis counselor and outpatient counselor. I retained my LCSW in 2019 where I started my private practice and then due to COVID, closed the doors.
