My Favorite Quote
"Forget the perfect offering; it's the cracks that let the light in." — Leonard Cohen
I consider myself to be a person and clinician that enjoys continuous growth and evolution. I am drawn toward brain and body-based therapies that offer long-term resolution over temporary relief. I deeply enjoy the work of accompanying others on their paths to healing from trauma or other areas in your life where you may feel stuck, in whatever way that manifests.
I incorporate Somatic Experiencing and working with parts of self into most interventions I use and teach my clients how to track their own nervous systems in order to elicit adaptive internal coping mechanisms and resources you can use beyond your time in therapy.
I received my MSW at Boston College, where I had the privilege of working as a HRSA Behavioral Health Fellow at the first co-located medical center, school, and mental health program in the country. This rich experience allowed me the opportunity to work with individuals of all ages, backgrounds, and diagnoses, and laid the foundation for my subsequent clinical work. Since that time, I have worked with children, adolescents, adults and families of all backgrounds.
I am basic trained and have almost completed full certification in EMDR, an evidence-based practice that uses bilateral stimulation to alleviate distressing events (past, present, and future) on a deep level. Through my EMDR certification process, I have received advanced training in using EMDR with Somatic Experiencing, which improves the quality of any therapeutic intervention by preparing the nervous system through each stage of a therapy session to provide containment of emotions, body sensations, and thoughts. I also use ego-state therapy and Internal Family Systems to work with parts of self that may be acting unconsciously as defense mechanisms and interfering with the therapeutic process.
Finally, I have extensive knowledge and experience working with parents of biological or adopted children using PCIT PRIDE Skills and TBRI trauma parenting skills. Diagnoses I have worked with include: PTSD, RAD, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, somatic issues, women's issues, adjustment disorders, ADHD, oppositional defiance, mood disorders, self-esteem, relationship and family issues, grief, and unhealthy patterns that have gained control of your life.
In my free time I love traveling, cooking, doing yoga, and hanging out in the sunshine as much as possible.
