My approach is to collaborate with clients to develop a treatment plan to best meet their goals. I like to combine research findings, empirical knowledge, and clinical assessment skills, with the contextual factors of my client's unique experience. I strive to create a safe, trusting, and non-judgmental environment where clients can explore emotional difficulties and learn new tools and coping strategies to help manage symptoms.
I focus on empowering, connecting and building a strong relationship with clients to help them to overcome personal obstacles and improve their mental health. I practice cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, family therapy, parent management training, exposure-response therapy, and mindfulness. Additionally I am trained in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy (EMDR). EMDR offers a nontraditional approach to psychotherapy designed to help clients diminish negative feelings while processing traumatic events and can be used on clients of all ages.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Masters degrees in both Child Development and Clinical Social Work. I enjoy working with children (5 and up), teens and adults. I have been working in the mental health community for five years spending time as a therapist at Children’s Hospital of Colorado, Eating Recovery Center of Chicago, and The Clarity Clinic. In my roles I've received advanced training and learned cutting-edge clinical services, making a positive impact in the lives of clients in outpatient psychiatry clinics, inpatient, and partial hospitalization programs.
In my free time I enjoy reading, traveling, volunteering and spending time with my husband and two pups.
