I would describe my counseling style as collaborative, warm, genuine, non-judgmental, and humanistic. I have been told that I am approachable, instantly make others feel comfortable, and have a good sense of humor. I firmly believe that respect, honesty, understanding, and compassion are imperative to the therapeutic relationship.
My approach is tailored to you as an individual and your specific needs and goals for seeking therapy. I take the time to get to know you and understand your goals for therapy. I also believe in utilizing your personal strengths in the therapy process. In general, I pull from my trainings in cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness-based, psychodynamic, dialectical-behavior therapy, and solution-focused therapies, among other evidence-based approaches.
It takes courage and commitment to seek a more fulfilling life, however that may manifest for you, and to take active steps towards seeing that to fruition. I am a licensed mental health counselor in New York with over 14 years of experience in a number of clinical settings. I spent a large portion of my career working in healthcare at a top NYC Psychiatric Hospital, on inpatient psychiatric units. Currently, I work in private practice, provide counseling services at a community college counseling center and teach graduate courses at a university. I also work as a consultant providing disruptive event management services to EAPs. Additionally, I have extensive experience in management, staff supervision, and intern supervision.
I enjoy spending time with my husband and 2 kids. I love spending time outdoors - going to the beach, hiking, and camping. I enjoy exercising - strength training, yoga, and dancing. I am also a huge music fan and love getting creative in the kitchen!
