"These pains you feel are messengers. Listen to them." — Rumi
We are all a product of our past both good and bad. Many of us have been hurt along the way. Some have gone far and want to go further, others are stuck and don’t know how to get unstuck. I realize many individuals have a desire to grow, and heal.
Although my basic orientation to treatment is psychodynamic, I often employ an integrative approach that includes psychodynamic, relational and cognitive methods, mindfulness, somatic therapy, and body work modalities. I am passionate about the application of mind-body practice in mental health. Psychotherapy has the potential to increase understanding of the powerful influences of our past and to provide insight into how and why they have an impact on our present behaviors and beliefs.
My aim is to help you create the necessary changes while providing safety and connection in a collaborative relationship. You no longer need to struggle alone. I believe in full recovery and I believe in your ability to create a fulfilling life grounded in meaning and purpose. My empathy and non-judgmental stance creates a safe environment to share your deepest thoughts and behaviors that have kept you at an impasse. It takes courage to make that phone call and I commend you for doing so.
My experience has included working with children, adolescents, young adults, and families. I have extensive experience working in Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP), Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP), and Outpatient Therapy clinics. My therapeutic approach integrates psychodynamic theory, behavioral modalities, mindfulness based therapies, and body work.
I specialize in the treatment of eating disorders, mood and anxiety disorders, self-injury and disorders of emotion regulation, specifically Borderline Personality Disorder. I am trauma informed, and my clinical expertise focuses on understanding traumatic events and the impact trauma has on our mind and body.
I have extensive training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and is certified through Behavioral Tech as well as advanced training in Radically Open DBT (RO-DBT). I am an advanced standing candidate in the Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy training program. I utilize body work modalities that blend mind-body psychology and yoga to help you heal, grow and thrive. My training offers a strong focus on meditation, breath work, energetic awareness, yoga philosophy and its application to mental health.
During my spare time, I love to spend time in nature. I love arts and crafts. I am an avid dog lover. I spend a lot of time with my sweet pug Freddy. I enjoy reading a good book, connection with others, and finding lots of moments to laugh.
